■Chris:
So, how’s your day so far?
さて、いまのところ、どんな1日ですか？

Is everything OK?
いろいろ大丈夫かしら？

■Hiroshi:
Yes, it’s been great.
はい、とてもいい感じです。

Thanks for having a lunch with me.
ランチをご一緒いただいて、ありがとうございます。

■Chris:
That’s good, and you’re very welcome.
それは、よかったわ。どういたしまして。

How do you feel about working in our marketing section so far?
今のところ、マーケティング部での仕事について、どう思う？

■Hiroshi:
Oh, everybody is really nice.
ええ、皆さん、とても良くして下さいます。

I really enjoy working here and I will be.
ここで働くのは、とても楽しいです。

※「I will be」＝「I will be enjoying working here」（これからも）楽しむつもりです。

■Chris:
Good for you!
よかったわね！

Well, I came from the head office in California three month ago.
私も、3ヶ月前に、カリフォルニアの本社から来たばかりなのよ。

My hometown is Los Angeles.
私の故郷は、ロサンゼルスなの。

I’m pretty new here as well.
私も、新入りだわね。

By the way, where do you come from?
ところで、ヒロはどこの出身？

■Hiroshi:
I’m from Suita-city.
私は吹田市の出身です。

It’s famous for “Tower of the sun” by Taro Okamoto.
岡本太郎の「太陽の塔」で有名なんですよ。

Do you know him?
岡本太郎って、知ってますか？

■Chris:
No, I don’t. Who is he?
いいえ、知りませんね。誰ですか？

■Hiroshi:
He is a very famous artist.
彼は、とても有名な芸術家なんですよ。

His artwork is very unique and my father loves them.
彼の作品は、とてもユニークで、私の父は、大好きなんです。

My father is an art teacher at high school.
父は、高校の美術教師をしています。

■Chris:
Is that right?
そうなの？

Does your mother like art, too?
お母様も、アートがお好きなの？

■Hiroshi:
Yes, she does.
はい、好きです。

She teaches drawing at a local culture center.
母は、地元のカルチャーセンターで絵画を教えているんです。

She doesn’t like Taro Okamoto’s art too much, though.
母は、岡本太郎の作品は、あまり好きではないんですけどね。

■Chris:
Oh, I see.
そうですか。

You know, I like art too. Especially photography.
う～ん、私もアートは好きなのよ。特に写真がね。

I go to different places in Tokyo with my camera on my days off.
休みの日には、カメラを持って、東京のあちこちに行くのよ。

What do you do in your free time?
ヒロは、休みの時なんかは、何をするの？

■Hiroshi:
I like cooking. I always cook in my free time.
料理が好きなんですよ。時間があればいつも料理します。

I will invite some people from work for dinner soon.
もうすぐ、会社の人たちを、夕食に招待しようと思っているんです。

I’ll invite you, too.
クリスさんも、お招きしますよ。

■Chris:
Wow, thank you very much.
わあ、どうもありがとう。

When is it?
いつかしら？

■Hiroshi:
It’ll be Sunday in two weeks.
2週間後の日曜日です。

■Chris:
OK. I’d love to go.
わかったわ。喜んで行かせてもらうわね。

How many people are you inviting?
何人くらい招待しているの？

■Hiroshi:
About ten, I think.
だいたい、10人くらいです。

I’m glad that you can come.
クリスさんが来てくれて嬉しいです。

I usually cook Japanese food.
私は、いつも日本料理を作るんです。
Do you like it?
日本食は好きですか？

■Chris:
Yes, I love it!
はい。大好きです。
I will bring some drinks for everybody.
私は、みんなに飲み物を持っていくわね。
How much do you need?
どのくらい必要かしら？

■Hiroshi:
Don’t worry about it. I’ll take care of it.
心配しないでください。私が、全部用意しますから。

■Chris:
Oh, that’s very kind of you, Hiro.
あなたって、とてもいい人ね、ヒロ。

Would you like some coffee now?
じゃあ、コーヒーはいかが。
What kind would you like?
どんな種類が好きですか？

■Hiroshi:
I’d like some cappuccino, thank you.
私は、カプチーノが好きです。ありがとうございます。

■Chris:
Oh, that’s my favorite too.
まあ、私のお気に入りもカプチーノだわ。
